Gassama, who is a former youth academy player of Brest, joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, signing his first professional contract with the club in July 2020.
He was a member of the PSG squad that clinched the French Ligue 1 title in the 2021-22 season.
After a brief stint with the France youth national team, he switched to his country of birth, making his debut last month.
The former Sheffield Wednesday winger shared his first words as quoted by INFO FOOT MAURITANIE
“The national team (Mauritania) is going to grow. People will respect us in the years to come.
“Because there are some very good players. I’ve seen them, and honestly, don’t worry, we’re here.”
Gassama spent a season’s loan at Belgium outfit, KAS Eupen before joining Sheffield Wednesday in 2023, spending two seasons at the English side.
He was snapped up by Rangers last year, signing a four-year contract.
Gassama made his international debut for Mauritania during their 2-1 loss against Argentina on March 28.
At Rangers this season, he has played 31 matches, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
He has contributed 14 appearances and six goals in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League this campaign.
