The former Diables Noirs star now has four goals in his last three league matches for Qabala, bringing his total to seven goals in all competions this season. It was an outstanding performance from the 22-year-old, who ended the match with an excellent winning strike in the 87th minute.

After the home side went down inside seven minutes, Massoumou leveled the match in the 27th minute with a poacher’s finish. In first half stoppage time, the pacey forward got on the end of an early cross to produce a clever volley beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.

The fierce battle between the two teams continued after halftime, with Portuguese forward Diogo Dos Santos scoring his second goal of the match to level for İmişli on the hour mark.

However, in a duel between the two goal scorers, it was Massoumou who emerged as the winner. After his team won the ball in the opposition half following an 87th minute goal kick, it was the Congolese who received the ball with a brilliant first touch before finishing low past the onrushing goalkeeper to give his club back-to-back victories in the league to begin action in 2026.

Massoumou was instrumental for Qabala last season as they captured the second division title to earn promotion to the Premier League this season. He was the leading scorer in the second tier and is now playing an important role to help Qabala remain in good position to maintain their top flight status.

He featured for Congo at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and made his full senior national team debut as a substitute in a 2-4 defeat against Zambia in 2026 World Cup qualifying.

With Brazzaville club Diables Noirs as well as another top Congolese club, AS Otoho, Massoumou featured in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup with 3 goals and 1 assist in 25 matches from CAF interclub competitions.
