Dorgeles Nene comes off bench to clinch Fenerbahçe victory

Dorgeles Nene came on as a substitute for the final half hour and scored the second goal for Fenerbahçe  in a 2-0 Turkish Süper Lig victory for the Istanbul club on Monday at Kocaelispor.

The Mali national team forward arrived to finish from Nélson Semedo’s cross in the 75th minute, putting the visitors beyond reach of their midtable opponents to further secure their hold on second place in the Turkish top flight. Former Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio previously put the visitors into the lead just before halftime.

The Yellow Canaries are three points back of league leaders. rivals and defending champions Galatasaray. In his debut season with the club after joining from Red Bull Salzburg, Nene now has 5 goals and 7 assists from 24 matches for the 19-time Turkish champions.

Nene, regarded as one of the fastest forwards in world football, featured in all five matches for Mali at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with three starts for Les Aigles in Morocco. They exited at the quarterfinal stage following a 0-1 defeat to eventual champions Senegal.

The club from the capital will be in action again on Thursday in the Turkish Cup, where they will host second tier side Erzurumspor in the ongoing group stage. Their next Süper Lig fixture will be next Monday at home against Gençlerbirliği.
