19-year-old Ghanaian winger Douglas Owusu scored his fourth goal of the season on Saturday as FK Radnik Surdulica earned a 1-0 victory over OFK Beograd in the Serbian Superliga.
After a handball was committed by visitors OFK in their penalty area, Owusu made no mistake from the penalty spot to hand Radnik their first win in three matches. The club from southern Serbia moved into a midtable position with the result, with 17 points from 15 matches as they fight for a top half position before the table splits into two groups for the latter part of the campaign.
Owusu, who rose to stardom with Ghanaian second tier side Asekem Football Club, is making excellent progress since joining his current club around his eighteenth birthday. He commanded a starting spot instantly upon his arrival, leading Radnik to promotion from the Serbian second tier last season with 2 goals in 32 appearances.
And the rising talent has played a major role in helping the club re-adjust to life in the Superliga. After a difficult start, they now have four wins in their last seven matches to move up the table into a safe position. Owusu has played nearly every minute this season and is putting himself in good position for a transfer to a higher level.
Next up after the FIFA window will be top-3 side Vojvodina on November 22.
