Newcastle United’s new signing, Yoane Wissa has expressed joy over his move to the St. James Park on transfer deadline day.
The DR Congo forward joined the Magpies in a deal worth £55 million pounds from Brentford as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak who left to join Liverpool after a transfer tussle.
The 28-year-old, who becomes the Toon Army’s sixth addition of the summer window, shared some words after his move.
“I’m so happy because it was the right move, right place for me so I can say that I am happy to be here,” Wissa told Newcastle United media.
“Why Newcastle, because the atmosphere is great, when we played against them the fans were unbelievable so I really love the way we played against them and when I spoke to the manager straight I felt like I connected and I think it was the perfect move for me.” Wissa added.
The France born forward started his professional career with Châteauroux before signing for Angers in 2016. He had loan stints at Laval and Ajaccio before a breakthrough season at Lorient. The striker made a move in 2021 to join the then newly promoted Brentford, going on to spend four seasons with the Bees.
