DR Congo international Chancel Mbemba has confirmed that he will leave French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille at the end of June 2025.

The centre-back was sidelined throughout the 2024/25 season due to injury.

Mbemba, 30, said his contract is expiring and he will depart the Southern France outfit. "My contract ends on June 30, and for that, I thank Olympique de Marseille and all its supporters. I gave my all, which made me part of the club's history. I had two wonderful seasons,” said the former Porto man.

He wished OM well and said better players could join the club as his replacement. "I wish Marseille all the best. My story ends on the 30th of this month, but I know there are still good defenders—better than me—who can come to Marseille. The most important thing is: Go OM!"

Mbemba remains a key player for the Leopards after coach Sébastien Desabre placed his trust in him. "Nobody believed in me in Marseille, but coach Sébastien Desabre and the entire Congolese people believed in me, and I worked hard to maintain the highest level possible."

Mbemba is expected to make a move this summer as he hopes to be included in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which is due to be held in Morocco.
