Kaizer Chiefs forward Glody Lilepo has discussed his first season with the Betway Premiership outfit ahead of their final fixture against Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The DR Congo forward, who arrived at Amakhosi from French third division side Valenciennes FC during the January transfer window, has been scoring spectacular goals for the South African club, including the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United this past weekend.

“I think I have adapted pretty well, although there’s much room for improvement. I have followed SA football for many years and played multiple times against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League when I was playing for Al-Hilal in Sudan. So I knew where I was going when signing for Chiefs,” said Lilepo, as quoted by the club’s official website.

On life at Chiefs "It’s great! From the facilities to club operations, we have a lot of people working and taking care of us so we can focus on our mission. The management and staff do a lot to help us, the team, so we are aware that we must fight for them on the field.”

On his memorable goals "I am happy to score when it helps the team. That is the most important thing, and I believe I can still give more.”

On Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup triumph, defeating Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the final “We are all very happy because we know how important it is for the Club. Our goal was to end this long period without trophies and bring back some joy to the fans.”

On facing Polokwane “Personally, I am training well, as is the rest of the squad. We understand how important this game is for our chances of finishing in the top eight and give us a more positive outlook to prepare for next season."

On the importance of their fans

“Khosi Nation, once again, we need you on Saturday for the last game of the season. Please bring your fantastic energy to help us finish the season strongly. Thank you in advance. Love and Peace.”

Amakhosi sit ninth in the league with 31 points after drawing with Sekhukhune in Polokwane on Saturday. Rise & Shine occupy seventh place, on 33 points, following their 2-0 loss at home to Cape Town City. Both teams have played 27 league matches.

Chiefs will welcome the return of defenders Inacio Miguel and Bradley Cross from suspension, but will miss the services of Pule Mmodi, who received a red card in the previous match.
