Durban City technical director (TD), Ernst Middendorp, visited Malawi over the weekend on a scouting mission ahead of the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership season.
The German watched an Airtel Top 8 cup final between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday. The People’s Team won the game 4-3 on post-match penalties to defend the Airtel Top 8 Cup.
Dressed in a brown top and black shirt, Middendorp followed proceedings while taking down some notes. The City TD sat alongside Bullets, Silver officials and other guests.
Bullets chief executive officer, Albert Chigoga, described the former Kaizer Chiefs handler as the Blantyre-based team’s guest coach.
“Happy watching the game with our guest coach Ernst Middendorp of Durban City,” Chigoga wrote on his Facebook page.
Zodiak Broadcasting Station online has since confirmed that Bullets invited the former Maritzburg United mentor to scout for players from the Blantyre giants.
The PSL rookies have since stepped up pre-season preparations. They played against Golden Arrows FC in a friendly match over the weekend, a match they say produced “strong team chemistry on display.”
City recently roped in Gavin Hunt as their new coach.
