Nigerian and Pisa midfielder, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro reflected on his maiden Super Eagles invitation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Akinsanmiro was named in coach Eric Chelle’s 28-man squad for the competition after catching the eye of the Malian tactician with his impressive performances in the Italian Serie A this season.
The 21-year-old, who is on loan to Pisa from fellow Italian side Inter Milan, while speaking with the Super Eagles media, said the invitation came to him as a surprise.
“I was not expecting it to be honest , the first time I was contacted was during the World Cup qualifiers, but I was injured and couldn’t make it.”
He also stated that his inspiration to become a professional footballer came from his father and brothers.
“My daddy inspired me, he was once a footballer, and my two brothers. They were footballers too. I took a lot of interest in the game while watching them play.”
Akinsanmiro was on the books of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars, before moving abroad a few years ago.
