Edmond Tapsoba helped Bayer Leverkusen secure maximum points in week five of the Bundesliga. Leverkusen pipped St. Pauli 2-1 away from home as they closed the gap on the top teams after a slow start to the season.
Tapsoba handed Die Werkself the lead in the 25th minute with a finish from inside the area after a free kick service fell kindly. The home side battled their way to restore parity through Hauke Wahl but Ernest Poku’s second-half strike sealed a big win for Leverkusen.
The Burkina Faso international bagged his first Bundesliga goal of the season. Tapsoba has amassed seven games in total across all competitions in the 2025/26 season. Leverkusen climbed up to fifth in the table with eight points. Focus now shifts for Leverkusen and Tapsoba to the UEFA Champions League second group game against PSV at the BayArena.
