Defending Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions Edo Queens FC have arrived in Ikenne, Ogun State, the host city for the 2025 Super 6 tournament.

Edo Queens, who ended the NWFL regular season on a flying note, are prepared to commence the defense of the title on a sensational note on Saturday.

Recall that the Ancient City based ladies played five matches in the Super 6 title campaign last season and lost only once to Rivers Angels. But at the end of the all- classic final they emerged winners and were crowned Queens and Champions of the Super 6.

Their triumph earned them a spot on the continental stage, where they emerged victorious in the WAFU-B qualifiers in Côte d'Ivoire before facing more prestigious opponents in the CAF Women's Champions League finals in Morocco.

Before leaving Benin City for Ikenne, the team expressed their determination to replicate their 2024 Super 6 victory in Bayelsa State. Boosted by their preparation and strong support from the Edo State government, the players are aiming for a positive start to the competition.

The other teams competing in the highly anticipated 2025 NWFL Premiership Super Six are five-time NWFL champions, Bayelsa Queens, the most successful club in the league's history with seven titles. Also competing are 2013 and 2017 champions Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, Remo Stars Ladies and Naija Ratels who are both searching for their maiden title.

Meanwhile, the camps of the six participating teams are already bubbling with action in Ikennel. The draw will be held tomorrow on Friday while the competition kicks off on Saturday at the Remo International Sports Stadium Ikenne, Ogun State.
