The Round of 32 in the Egypt Cup kicked off on Thursday with three matches that produced excitement, late drama, and decisive performances as Bank Al Ahly, Smouha, and Petrojet all secured their places in the last 16.
National Bank ended Port Fouad’s cup run with a dramatic extra-time victory at Al Salam Stadium.
After a tight 90 minutes that finished goalless, the match exploded into life in extra time.
Ahmed Amin “Oufa” broke the deadlock in the 99th minute before Saidou Simporé doubled the lead in the 105th minute.
Port Fouad briefly revived hope through Islam Magdy’s strike in the 109th minute, but Simporé quickly shut the door on any comeback, completing a quick-fire brace with goals in the 114th and 118th minutes to seal a 4–1 win and send National Bank through to the Egypt Cup Round of 16.
Smouha was the first team to officially reach the last 16 after a 3–1 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla at Borg El Arab Stadium.
Paape Ndiaye Badji opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Khaled El-Ghandour made it 2–0 early in the second half.
Mahalla pulled one back in the 57th minute, but Samir Fekry restored Smouha’s comfortable advantage in the 73rd minute to secure the win.
Petrojet clinched their spot in the Round of 16 with a narrow 1–0 victory over Wadi Degla at Petro Sport Stadium.
Both sides struggled to find a breakthrough until Hadi Riyad struck in the 75th minute, scoring the decisive goal of the match. Petrojet booked their place in the next round of Egypt Cup by this goal.
