Egypt FA confirms four clubs for 2025/26 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has officially notified the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of the four clubs set to represent Egypt in the upcoming 2025/26 editions of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Al Ahly and Pyramids will compete in the CAF Champions League, having finished first and second respectively in the 2024/25 Egyptian Premier League. Meanwhile, Zamalek, who clinched the Egypt Cup title, and Al Masry, who secured fourth place in the league standings, will take part in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Interestingly, these are the exact same four teams that represented Egypt in CAF competitions last season—and in the same order. The consistency reflects the stability and rising dominance of these clubs in Egyptian football.

Last season saw Pyramids make history by winning the CAF Champions League for the first time in the club’s history, marking a landmark achievement for the relatively young club. Al Ahly, the most decorated team in African football, reached the semi-finals but were eliminated by South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, both Egyptian representatives exited at the quarter-final stage. Zamalek were knocked out by Stellenbosch of South Africa, while Al Masry’s campaign ended against Tanzania’s Simba SC.
