Egypt’s national football team, under the guidance of coach Hossam Hassan, has opted to rest three key players for their upcoming away match against Cape Verde: Mahmoud Trezeguet, Omar Marmoush, and Marwan Ateya.
Scheduled for this Friday at 6 PM, the game marks the fifth round of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
However, with Egypt having already secured their spot in the tournament as group leaders, the coaching staff sees an opportunity to conserve energy and avoid risks.
Both Trezeguet and Atteya are currently on two yellow cards, just one caution away from suspension. By resting them, the team ensures they remain eligible for the final qualifier against Botswana.
Marmoush will also skip the Cape Verde trip, allowing the trio to be fresh for Tuesday’s clash against Botswana which will kick off at 5 PM Egypt Standard Time at Cairo’s Air Defense Stadium.
