Egyptian national team manager Hossam Hassan has confirmed the absence of goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy and midfielder Hamdi Fathy for the upcoming match against Botswana, scheduled for next Tuesday. Both players are suspended due to yellow card accumulation receiving yellow cards in Egypt’s away 1-1 draw against Cape Verde in the previous match.
Meanwhile, star attackers Omar Marmoush and Mahmoud Trezeguet as well as midfielder Marwan Attia participated in today’s training session after being rested for the clash with Cape Verde.
The Pharaohs will host Botswana at 5 PM Cairo time on Tuesday at the Air Defense Stadium in the sixth and final round of Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers. Egypt secured their spot in the tournament early, qualifying officially in the fourth round.
Egypt currently leads Group C with 13 points from five matches, followed by Botswana in second place with 7 points. Cape Verde occupies third place with 4 points, tied with Mauritania who are in fourth, also with 4 points.
