Egyptian and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has revealed his desire to play football until he is 40 years old.

The 32-year-old Pharaoh enjoyed a great season with Liverpool this season, guiding them to the Premier League title after scoring 29 goals and delivering 18 assists.

"I will stop playing when I have that feeling,” Salah revealed Egyptian television channel ON Sports, as quoted by BBC Sports Africa. "If you ask me for my opinion, I think I can play until the age of 39 or 40 but if I felt before that I wanted to stop, I would quit. I have achieved a lot of things.

“My contract was up at Liverpool and I would have gone to Saudi but we finalised the deal with Liverpool.”

On his rumoured move to Saudi Pro League despite extending Liverpool stay until 2027, Salah said: “I still have a good relationship with them and I always stay in contact with them. Yes, we were talking to each other," he added, with reference to clubs in Saudi.

“I don't know what is going to happen but I am happy here in Liverpool and I am staying here for the next two years. Then I will see what I will do next.”

During Liverpool's final game of the season against Crystal Palace last Sunday, the forward hit a record-equalling goal to ensure the season finale party at Anfield did not follow a defeat.

The goal was Salah's 29th in the league and that tally, along with his 18 assists, meant he moved level with Alan Shearer and Andy Cole for the most goal involvements in a Premier League season.

It also meant he had secured a fourth Golden Boot, equalling the record held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
