Egypt national team director Ibrahim Hassan has confirmed that any player who steps out of line will be excluded from the squad, following the recent objection from Zamalek midfielder Nasser Maher.
Zamalek midfielder Nasser Maher voiced his disappointment after being left out of Egypt’s squad for the November camp, posting an emotional message on his personal Instagram account.
Nasser Maher wrote:
“I’m sorry for posting this, it’s really not my nature, but honestly, the situation is very frustrating for me because of the Egypt national team list.”
He added:
“To be completely honest, I believe I deserve to be at least included in the squad, especially since it’s clearly not a technical decision. All the analysts, journalists, fans — even ordinary people — have been speaking very positively about my performances recently.”
Maher concluded:
“Honestly, what happened is a huge injustice. It has nothing to do with football. All the effort I’ve put in feels wasted, and my dreams are being crushed so easily as if they mean nothing. I’ve done everything I was supposed to do — it’s really unfair. What’s happening could break even the strongest of people.”
Speaking to the media, Ibrahim Hassan stated:
“Exclusion will be the fate of any player who crosses the line, shows a lack of discipline, complains in any way, pretends to be injured, makes inappropriate statements, or disrespects the national team jersey.”
He added:
“The coaching staff of the Egypt national team will not tolerate any behavior that compromises the team’s values or the rights of the national side.”
The twin of the Egyptian national team coach Hossam Hassan continued:
“Discipline and mutual respect come before technical abilities. These are among the main criteria we rely on when selecting players to represent Egypt in this important phase — the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.”
Ibrahim Hassan further explained:
“The national team staff deals with all players as younger brothers, and we maintain equal distance from everyone, whether players or clubs. Our sole goal is the success of the national team, raising Egypt’s name, and restoring its leadership once again. This requires full commitment, dedication, and unity from all.”
Concluding his remarks, Ibrahim Hassan said:
“Player selection for any camp is purely a technical decision made by the coaching staff led by Hossam Hassan. Each camp has its own criteria and objectives depending on the upcoming matches and the goals set by the staff.”
