Egypt delivered a stunning performance against Saudi Arabia, securing a convincing 4-0 victory in an international friendly held on Friday evening at Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah. The match served as part of both teams’ preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Pharaohs wasted no time asserting their dominance, opening the scoring as early as the 4th minute through Islam Issa. The goal came after a run from Ahmed Sayed Zizo, who delivered a pass to Issa. The winger calmly dribbled past the defender and goalkeeper before slotting the ball into an empty net.
Egypt continued to control the game and doubled their lead in the 16th minute. A perfectly delivered cross from Mohamed Hany found Mahmoud Trezeguet, who powered a header into the Saudi net to make it 2-0.
The third goal highlighted Egypt’s attacking quality once again. Emam Ashour provided a superb assist to Zizo, who surged forward before delicately chipping the ball over the goalkeeper with a lob, extending the lead to 3-0 before halftime. Marmoush played a key role guarding the ball from a Saudi defender to go into the net.
At the start of the second half, Egypt introduced Haitham Hassan, marking his debut for the national team in the 46th minute.
The fourth and final goal came in the 56th minute through Omar Marmoush. The forward unleashed a strike that the Saudi goalkeeper failed to handle, allowing the ball to slip into the net and seal a big victory for Egypt.
The match ended 4-0, capping off an impressive evening for the Egyptian side, who showcased attacking efficiency despite the absence of the injured star Mohamed Salah.
Egypt are set to face Spain in another friendly on March 31, in what will be a more demanding test as they continue their World Cup preparations.
