Egypt under-20 national team head coach Osama Nabih issued an apology following his side’s heavy loss to Sierra Leone on Wednesday. The U-20 AFCON hosts lost 4-1 to Sierra Leone in the second round of the group stage.
After the game Nabih expressed his disappointment in the result and as quoted by Egyptian Football Association, the coach said:
"The result is harsh and disappointing, and we apologize for it. We definitely managed to reach Sierra Leone’s goal many times — we had four shots, and they only had one, which was a penalty kick."
Speaking about the players, the coach added:
"The players are young and haven’t faced this kind of pressure before, especially since we exerted great effort against South Africa. Sometimes football punishes you."
"We will prepare for the next match against Zambia and aim to make up for this result."
