Egypt slip to 2–0 defeat against Uzbekistan; will face Cape Verde in Al Ain International Cup

The Egyptian national team fell to a 2–0 defeat against Uzbekistan in the semi-finals of the Al Ain International Friendly Tournament, in a match played at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.

Al Ain, in the United Arab Emirates, is hosting the four-nation competition from 13 to 18 November, with the participating teams being Egypt, Uzbekistan, Cape Verde, and Iran. Each team plays one semi-final match, with the winners advancing to the final and the losing sides meeting in a third-place playoff.

Uzbekistan opened the scoring in the 4th minute through Oston Urunov, who pushed past several Egyptian defenders with skillful move before firing a shot into the net beyond goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi.

The second goal arrived in the 43rd minute after a through ball played behind Egypt’s defence. Mohamed Hany attempted to intercept, but the ball slipped past him, allowing Urunov to break free, round Mohamed Sobhi, and score to complete his brace.

Egypt played the match without Omar Marmoush, who was granted leave for personal reasons, and without Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet,” who was ruled out due to injury. Mohamed Salah started the match but could not influence the result.

Iran Reach Final After Beating Cape Verde

In the other semi-final, Iran advanced to the final after defeating Cape Verde 5–4 on penalties, following a goalless draw in regular time.

Egypt face Cape Verde

Uzbekistan will face Iran in the tournament final, while Egypt will meet Cape Verde to decide third place.

The match between Egypt and Cape Verde is scheduled for 17 November at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, kicking off at 16:00 GMT.
