The Egypt national team has confirmed that Ibrahim Adel will miss the upcoming friendly match against Nigeria after sustaining an ankle injury, as the Pharaohs continue their preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
Egypt will host Nigeria on Tuesday at Cairo International Stadium in a warm-up match ahead of the AFCON tournament. However, Ibrahim Hassan, Director of the Egypt national team, revealed that Ibrahim Adel suffered an ankle sprain while playing with his club Al Jazeira in UAE.
As a result, the winger will be sidelined for Tuesday evening’s friendly against Nigeria. Despite the injury, Ibrahim Hassan reassured that Ibrahim Adel is expected to be fit in time for Egypt’s opening match in the AFCON against Zimbabwe.
Ibrahim Adel joined the Egypt national team camp on Monday after arriving from the UAE, where he has been featuring with his club Al JAzeira in domestic competitions.
The Africa Cup of Nations 2025 will kick off on December 21 and run until January 18 in Morocco. Egypt have been drawn into Group B alongside Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
