Emam Ashour leads Al Ahly to edge El Gouna in the Egyptian League

Al Ahly claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over El Gouna on Thursday evening at Cairo International Stadium, in Round 18 of the Egyptian League.

The Red Devils broke the deadlock in the 35th minute through Emam Ashour, who powered home a brilliant header after a perfectly delivered cross from Achraf Bencharki. The goal proved decisive in a tightly contested encounter, giving Al Ahly a lead heading into halftime.

El Gouna had already demonstrated their ability to frustrate top teams this season, having secured draws against Zamalek, Pyramids, and Ceramica Cleopatra. However, they were unable to find a breakthrough against Al Ahly defense.

The victory lifts Al Ahly to second place in the league table with 33 points, temporarily closing the gap to league leaders Ceramica Cleopatra to just two points. The standings could still shift depending on the upcoming results of Zamalek and Pyramids.
