The race for the Egyptian Nile League title took a dramatic turn on Matchday 4 of the title phase, as league leaders Pyramids suffered a surprising defeat to Pharco, while second-placed Al Ahly capitalized with a dominant victory over Haras El Hodoud.
Al Ahly 5-0 Haras El Hodood
Al Ahly delivered a statement win with a 5-0 victory over Haras El Hodood at home.
The Cairo giants were ruthless in attack and could have scored even more, with more missed chances throughout the game. Taher Mohamed Taher opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a composed finish inside the box after a headed assist from Rami Rabia.
Ahmed Nabil "Koka" doubled the lead in the 27th minute with a low strike following a cross from Taher.
In the second half, Wessam Abou Ali made it 3-0 in the 55th minute with a one-on-one finish. It was the striker’s second consecutive goal after netting in the previous match against Petrojet.
Hussein El Shahat added the fourth goal in the 73rd minute, finishing off a well-placed pass from Emam Ashour. Right-back Mohamed Hany completed the rout in stoppage time (90+4) with a precise shot from inside the area.
The match also marked the return of Al Ahly legend Ali Maaloul in Nile Egyptian League for the first time since suffering an injury on May 18, 2024, in the CAF Champions League final against Espérance.
With this win, Al Ahly move to 46 points in the second place—just one behind table leaders Pyramids while Haras El Hodoud remain bottom of the title phase group with 22 points after four straight defeats.
Pharco 3-2 Pyramids
Earlier in the day, the title race was blown wide open as Pharco pulled off a surprising 3-2 win over league leaders Pyramids.
After a goalless first half, the second period exploded with action. Ahmed Sherif broke the deadlock for Pharco in the 55th minute, dribbling past a defender before firing home.
Mahmoud Emad doubled the lead in the 66th minute with a precise shot from outside the box. Pyramids responded in the 75th minute through Ibrahim Adel, who headed in from a pinpoint cross by Mohamed Chibi.
However, Pharco regained their two-goal cushion in the 84th minute when Amr Nasser converted a penalty. Pyramids striker Marwan Hamdy made it 3-2 with another header in the 90th minute—again assisted by Chibi—but Pharco won at the end.
Despite the defeat, Pyramids remain top of the Nile League table with 47 points, just one ahead of Al Ahly.
Pharco climb to sixth place with 29 points.
