El Kaabi’s hat-trick helps Olympiacos beat Den Haag in pre-season

Veteran Morocco forward, Ayoub El Kaabi was on hat-trick as Greek giants, Olympiacos squeezed a win over Dutch side, Ado Den Haag in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.

Olympiacos faced Den Haag in the Netherlands in their fifth friendly encounter with the Moroccan international scoring three times in their 3-2 victory.

El Kaabi got two quick first half goals, tapping in from close range in the 12th minutes for the opener before a similar feat six minutes later to peg the game at 2-0 heading into the half time.

The 32-year-old experienced striker increased the visitors’ tally to 3-0 with 65 minutes played before Silva-Richards and Guinea defender, Sekou Sylla scored each to finish the game at 3-2 for Olympiacos.

El Kaabi was a standout performer for Olympiacos last season, scoring 18 goals in 29 league games with five assists to credit as they won the league with games to end the campaign.

He was part of Olympiacos squad that won the Greek Cup last season and the Europa Conference League in the 2023/24 season. He is capped 42 times by the Atlas Lions with two Championship for Africa Nations trophies to his name.

The next friendly for the “Red-and-Whites” is scheduled for Friday, August 8, against Saudi Pro League side Al-Taawoun, which will be their final match on Dutch soil as part of their summer preseason.
