The South African cut inside from the right wing before striking a low shot to beat Kholood goalkeeper Juan Pablo Cozzani in the 30th minute and cancel out an early opener from Ramiro Enrique.
Syrian goal scoring legend Omar Al Somah put the visitors ahead for good seven minutes to give Hazem a 2-1 lead they would hold onto. Hosts Al Kholood created plenty of danger in the second half but could not find a goal to level the score.
It has certainly been a learning process for former Sekhukhune United and Esperance star Mokwana in Saudi Arabia. Playing for a relegation candidate, the 26-year-old attacker needed nine matches to get his first goal contribution with an assist in Hazem’s 2-2 draw at Al Ettifaq. He now has one goal and one assist from eleven matches in all competitions.
However, Mokwana is showing signs of progress and Friday’s victory ended a four-match winless streak to give his club nine points from nine matches. Al Hazem will next face reigning Pro League champions Al Ittihad after a one-month break from action on December 20.
