Uganda Cranes defender Elio Capradossi is on the lookout for a new challenge following the expiration of his contract with Italian side AS Cittadella.
According to Padova Sport, Capradossi will officially leave Cittadella as a free agent after the conclusion of his one-year deal, which expired on June 30th. He had joined the club midway through last year’s campaign, arriving as a free agent.
Capradossi’s departure comes in the aftermath of Citadella’s relegation from Serie B to Serie C in the recently concluded season. Despite the team’s struggles and a mid-season flexor injury, the center-back featured prominently when fit, racking up 16 appearances out of a possible 38 matches.
Born in Uganda to a Congolese mother and Italian father, Capradossi switched international allegiance to Uganda after representing Italy at youth level. He made his Uganda Cranes debut last year in a World Cup Qualifier against Botswana and has since become a fan favorite.
The defender played a key role in Uganda’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and has now earned seven caps for the Cranes.
At club level, Capradossi has had stints with several Italian teams including AS Roma, Bari, Spezia, Cagliari, SPAL, and Lecco FC. His next destination remains to be seen as he explores new opportunities in the upcoming transfer window.
