Al Jazira Club claimed the UAE League Cup title for the second time in their history after a 2-1 win over Shabab Al Ahli in the final.
The team features several African players, including Egyptian star Mohamed Elneny, Congolese international Neeskens Kebano and Ivorian midfielder Mamadou Coulibaly — all of whom started the final match.
Kebano scored the decisive second goal, securing the victory in the 55th minute when the score was tied at 1-1. He received the ball, showcased excellent skill, and fired a left-footed shot into the near corner of Shabab Al Ahli's goal.
This marks the first title for both Elneny and Kebano with Al Jazira. Elneny is in his first season with the club while Kebano is in his second. The club are managed by Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta, who has a decorated career in African football.
Ammouta led Morocco to the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) title, guided Wydad Casablanca to the 2016-2017 Moroccan Botola Pro league title and the CAF Champions League title in 2017, won both the Throne Cup and CAF Confederation Cup with FUS Rabat in 2010, and clinched the 2022–2023 Botola Pro league title with AS FAR.
Al Jazira gained a measure of revenge after losing the final of the same competition back in 2014 against Shabab Al Ahli by the same scoreline.
