Egyptian star Mohamed Elneny has won the Best Player Award for April in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Pro League after stellar performances for Al Jazira FC in the just-ended month.

The UAE Pro League's website confirmed that the former Arsenal FC midfielder emerged on top, outshining Shabab Al Ahli's Saeid Ezatolahi, Al Wahda's Alaa Zouhir, Al Wasl's João Pedro, and Khorfakkan's Tarik Tissoudali.

The 32-year-old dreadlocked Pharaohs midfielder was outstanding last month to help Al Jazira win the ADIB Cup (League Cup) trophy after defeating Shabab Al Ahli 2-1 at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium on April 19.

Elneny left Arsenal last season, ending an eight-year stay with the Gunners after having joined from Swiss side FC Basel in 2016 for £5 million ($6 million). He made 161 appearances for the Gunners.

In other categories, Shabab Al Ahli's Hamad Al Meqbaali won the Best Goalkeeper Award, shrugging off competition from Kalba's Sultan Al Mantheri and Al Wasl's Ali Mohamed Ali.

The Best Coach accolade went to Khorfakkan's Abdelmajeed Alnemer, who edged out Shabab Al Ahli's Paulo Sousa and Sharjah's Olăroiu Cosmin.
