Ugandan international Elvis Bwomono has sealed a return to Icelandic club IBV Vestmannaeyjar, marking the end of his spell with Scottish Premiership side St Mirren.
He had initially joined St Mirren in December 2023 from IBV and made his debut in January 2024 against Celtic. Over his time in Paisley, Bwomono featured in over 30 appearances across all competitions, offering versatility across the backline and midfield. Despite showing glimpses of his potential, consistent starting opportunities became limited, prompting a return to familiar ground in Iceland.
Bwomono originally joined IBV in May 2022 from South End and quickly became a regular starter, amassing 44 league appearances before moving to Scotland. His strong performances in the Icelandic topflight had caught the eye of St Mirren’s coaching staff, who described him as a disciplined and hardworking player.
At international level, Bwomono made his debut for the Uganda Cranes in November 2020 during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan. Since then, he has featured in several matches for the national team and continues to be considered an option at right-back due to his European experience and tactical adaptability.
Returning to IBV offers Bwomono a chance to regain form and confidence in an environment he knows well, as he aims to relaunch both his club and international prospects.
