Emam Ashour has officially returned to group training with Al Ahly after completing his disciplinary suspension, boosting the Red Devils ahead of their decisive CAF Champions League fixture this Sunday.
The midfielder had been suspended for 15 days after missing the team’s trip to Tanzania, where Al Ahly faced Young Africans S.C. in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage. The club also imposed a fine of EGP 1.5 million (nearly $32,000) and ordered the player to train individually away from the squad.
Ashour’s suspension officially ended on Thursday, and he rejoined collective training on Friday, making him available for Sunday’s clash against AS FAR in the CAF Champions League.
Al Ahly played four matches across two competitions during Ashour’s absence, struggling to maintain consistent results.
Across four matches without Ashour, Al Ahly recorded three draws and just one victory, underlining the need of the midfielder’s presence in the teams’s attack.
