After Adil Boulbina led Al Duhail to the quarterfinals of Qatar’s Emir Cup earlier on Thursday, fellow Algerian forward Redouane Berkane accomplished the same feat with a goal in Al Wakrah’s 2-0 victory over Al Sailiya in the Round of 16.

The former JS Kabylie forward headed in from close range in the 85th minute to put the hosts beyond reach against their fellow Qatar Stars League club. Jordanian midfielder Omar Salah previously gave Wakrah the lead close to the hour mark.
The club based on Qatar’s east coast will await the winner of Saturday’s clash between QSL club Al Rayyan and second tier side Al Khor.
Berkane continues to enjoy excellent form since completing his first transfer abroad from JSK in August ahead of the 2025-26 season. He now has 12 goals in 17 matches across all competitions during his time in Qatar.
His quick adaptation has also provided unprecedented opportunities with the Algeria national team. He was one of the top players on Les Verts at the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup in December with 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 matches.

These performances led to a call from senior national team coach Vladimir Petković for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where Berkane made one substitute appearance as Algeria were eliminated by Nigeria in the quarterfinals.
