Emmanuel Okwi set to depart AS Kigali after standout season

Former Uganda Cranes skipper Emmanuel Arnold Okwi is expected to part ways with AS Kigali following the expiration of his one-year contract with the Rwanda Premier League club.

The seasoned Ugandan forward joined AS Kigali in August last year, following a failed move to Kiyovu Sports Club. Despite the initial setback, Okwi quickly found his footing and delivered an impressive campaign.

During his time at AS Kigali, the former Uganda Cranes captain netted nine goals and registered three assists, establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s attack.

His performances didn’t go unnoticed as he earned a nomination for the Player of the Season (MVP) in the recent Rwanda Premier League Awards.

Okwi’s contributions placed him among the standout Ugandan players in Rwanda, with only Mukura Victory Sport’s goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato rivalling his impact.

As his contract comes to an end, Okwi now weighs his options ahead of the new season, with interest expected from clubs across the region.
