Youssef En-Nesyri ended a run of of seven matches without a goal in spectacular fashion for club Fenerbahce on Monday, scoring twice in the Istanbul club’s dominant 4-0 Super Lig victory over Gaziantep.
The Morocco national team striker scored twice inside the opening half hour to keep The Canaries undefeated in domestic league play this season. The 19-time Turkish club champions strengthened their hold on third place with the result and are now one point behind second placed Trabzonspor and six points back of league leaders and rivals Galatasaray.
It took the 28-year-old less than five minutes to strike on Monday when the Gaziantep defense failed to clear a free kick into their penalty area, allowing En-Nesyri to fire in the opening goal.
Gaziantep continued to be overwhelmed by the visitors and it was no surprise when the former Sevilla player arrived to finish from a Marco Asensio cross for his second goal in the 21st minute. Brazilian attacker Talisca added two more goals in the second half to complete the lopsided victory.
The Morocco national team regular got off to a decent start to the 2025-26 season and will hope that Monday’s performance can inspire another run of hot form after going over a month without a goal for his club. He has five goals in sixteen matches across all competitions this season ahead of Fenerbahce’s clash against Istanbul rivals Besiktas next Sunday.
