Ghana’s senior female team will face England in a crunchy international friendly on Tuesday, December 2, a game many have written off the West African nation.

The Black Queens stepped up preparations ahead of the epic encounter with a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa women’s team with England whitewashing China by 8-0 in their third of four friendlies at Wembley.

The European Women champions will welcome the 2025 Women Africa Cup of Nations bronze medalists to the St Mary’s Stadium and Ghana head coach, Kim Lars Björkegren admits the challenge will be tough.

“We’re jumping into deep water to see if we can swim against the best team in the world,” Björkegren told Ghana FA.

“It’s going to be really tough, and we need to understand that. But we also know we have some qualities. We may not be top five in the world yet, but we need to challenge ourselves.

“Games like these – potentially the most difficult in the world right now, away against England—will challenge us for sure. We’re going to see how good we are, but also what we need to do better to climb the FIFA rankings and remain one of the top teams in Africa.
