Enyimba FC coach, Stanley Eguma, has shared insights on how long it would take star striker Brown Ideye to recapture his sparkling form after he signed for the Nigerian giants on December 30, 2024.
Eguma gave an update on the seasoned forward after he scored for Enyimba in the 4-1 win over Associação Black Bulls FC at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.
Ideye scored on his Enyimba debut, rounding the goalkeeper before squeezing his shot into the net from an acute angle to complete the CAF Confederation Cup’s emphatic win. Eguma said he was happy with Ideye’s performance but more is yet to come from him.
“Brown Ideye, we all know him as a household name. His presence is a big plus to the team. He might not be fully fit because he just joined the team, but it’s a gradual process. In the near future, he will add more to the team,” added Eguma.
The 36-year-old is a well-known figure in Nigeria football having played at the highest level for club and country. He was part of the 2013 AFCON-winning squad and has played for top clubs such as West Bromwich Albion in England.
The Nigerians, who still anchor the group, also scored through Joseph Atule, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele and Kalu Nweke whereas Ejaita Ifoni registered the visitors’ consolation.
The Aba-based giants have four points, at par with Black Bulls, ahead of the game against Egypt’s Al Masry on Sunday. The Mozambicans date Zamalek on the same date in Cairo.
