Premier League: Dango Ouattara sends Brentford into top-8

Dango Ouattara’s first half strike was enough for 10-man Brentford FC to stun Aston Villa 1-0 away from home on Sunday in the English Premier League.

The Burkinabé international fired in from a difficult angle after his attempted cross was blocked back to him. With Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez scrambling to get back into a good position, Ouattara put his effort into the top corner only a few minutes after Kevin Schade was sent off for the visitors.

The Bees abandoned any attacking intentions after halftime and managed to survive after Villa laid siege to the opposition goal in the second half. Ouattara was substituted on the hour mark as the visitors attempted to strengthen their defensive efforts for the final half hour.

A massive three points at the top-3 side has now inspired the West London side’s ambitions of qualifying for UEFA club competition next season. They move up to 7th place on the Premier League table, three points back of Liverpool and four points behind 5th place Chelsea.

Ouattara, who joined from Bournemouth in a big-money transfer ahead of the ongoing season, now has 4 goals in 21 appearances between league and cup matches.
