FC Utrecht are firmly competing with Dutch football's powerhouse clubs and continued their push for a place in next season's UEFA Champions League with a 4-0 thumping of RKC Waalwijk on Friday. Sébastien Haller was on the scoresheet once again with the Ivory Coast striker making it three matches in a row with a goal.

The poacher arrived to finish from an excellent cross by former Morocco international Souffian El Karouani. Haller's 19th minute strike doubled the lead for Utrecht, who went ahead a few minutes earlier through Oscar Fraulo.

Before thirty minutes had elapsed the visitors were ahead 3-0 against Waalwijk, who appear destined for relegation. Utrecht have now won their last three matches by a combined score of 11-1 and are unbeaten in their last five.

Utrecht are now level on 62 points with Feyenoord in a battle for third place and a place in the qualification stages of the Champions League next season. Feyenoord have played one less match, giving them a slight edge.

Haller and his team will next travel to face Twente on May 11. The 30-year-old marksman has 4 goals in 14 matches since re-joining Utrecht on loan in January, where he previously enjoyed great success before stints in the Bundesliga as well as with Ajax Amsterdam and West Ham United before joining current parent club Borussia Dortmund.
