Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler has made a striking statement regarding Kaizer Chiefs' struggles in the Betway Premiership standings.

With only one game left this season, Amakhosi are finding it difficult to secure a top-eight finish after a disappointing run of form.

A 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane this past weekend was another setback for Chiefs, extending their winless league streak to eight matches.

The Soweto giants desperately needed a win in this tie against Babina Noko to climb out of the Betway Premiership's bottom half, but they were unable to secure the three points.

With 31 points from 27 games (eight wins, seven draws, and twelve losses), the Glamour Boys are currently ninth, level with eighth-placed Chippa United, who have finished their fixtures and hold a superior goal difference.

While their Betway Premiership form has been inconsistent, Chiefs recently celebrated ending a nine-year trophy drought with a significant 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final just over a week ago.

Following their draw with Chiefs, Sekhukhune coach Tinkler suggested that the Soweto giants' current league position doesn't reflect their actual ability and squad depth.

“We got a point against a team that is full of confidence after the Nedbank Cup win,” said Eric Tinkler. “I think where Chiefs are sitting on the league table is not a true reflection of the squad they have and the brand of football they’re looking to play.

“So for us, in the last game of the season, we have to go away from home, which is not going to be easy against Golden Arrows, but we need to try and collect maximum points.”
