The 2026 Eritrean Central Zone League has seen giants Red Sea FC become the leaders at the mid-point of the season. The league is being played among nine clubs in the country, with Red Sea showing their strength during the first eight rounds.
Red Sea thrashed newly promoted side Agricultural and Livestock Corporation 4–1 at Asmara Stadium to hold firm at the top of the standings. After a goalless first half, Red Sea struck twice through a spot-kick from Simon Asemelash and a goal from Benhur Amanuel. The visitors reduced the deficit with a goal from Aron Osman, but Red Sea grabbed two late goals from Medhane Redai and Nahom Amanuel to seal a deserved victory.
Reigning Eritrean champions Denden beat Mai Temenai 2–0 to keep the pressure on the table toppers. Davon Gebtsawi and Sham Tewolde scored the decisive goals for the armed forces side in the second half.
Red Sea top the standings level on points with their bitter rivals Denden, as both sides have collected 19 points. Adulis are third with 15 points. Mai Temenai are bottom of the standings with only four points from eight games.
The league will now be halted to give space for the Eritrean national side’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round qualifying tie against South Sudan. The Red Sea Camels recently appointed former Zamalek coach Hesham Yakan as their new coach.
