Eritrean striker Ali Sulieman has joined newly promoted Egyptian Premier League side Kahraba Ismailia. The two-time Ethiopian Premier League top scorer has signed a two-year contract with the electricity provider club.

Sulieman, 25, had suitors in Ethiopia after a successful spell with Hawassa Ketema. The striker scored 19 league goals to claim the top goal scorer award for the second season running. Sulieman won the accolade in the 2023/24 season following his 20-goal contribution to the Lakers.

Sulieman started his career in his native country with Red Sea FC. He was first noticed by Ethiopian clubs during the 2021 CECAFA U23 Challenge Cup in Bahir Dar, where he was the top goal scorer of the tournament. He later joined Bahir Dar Ketema.

Sulieman had failed tryouts at a club in Sweden before returning to Hawassa Ketema. The move to Egypt will make him the first player from Eritrea to play in the North African nation’s top flight in recent times. Sulieman can be deployed as a left winger and is well known for his pace and finishing skills.

Kahraba Ismailia won promotion to Egypt Premier League during the 2024/25 season. They will kick off their league journey against El Gouna on Sunday, August 10th.
