Esperance Sportive de Tunis have officially renewed the contract of Algerian international defender Mohamed Amine Tougai, extending his stay at the club until June 2027.

The 25-year-old center-back’s previous deal had expired at the end of the 2024–25 season, but the club retained one of its key defensive figures. Tougai played an important role to lead the “Blood and Gold” defense after team leader Yassine Meriah went down with a long-term knee injury at the beginning of the campaign.
This renewal also puts an end to recent transfer speculation, particularly rumors linking Tougai with UAE side Al Ain who signed Egyptian defender Rami Rabia ahead of their participation at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Tougai had a solid campaign last season, making 32 appearances across all competitions, including three matches at the Club World Cup. He also scored three goals and received four yellow cards.

On the international stage, he played a role in Algeria’s triumph at the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, and has so far earned 16 caps for the national team, scoring one goal.
