Two times Ethiopian champions has named Mulugeta Miheret as their new head coach. The Lakers were without a permanent coach for over two months after sacking Zerai Mulu citing poor performance.
The Hawassa Ketema board convened over the weekend to discuss pertinent matters regarding the first team and agreed to appoint former club captain as the new coach.
Miheret previously handled Hawassa, Hadiya Hosaina and Wolkite Ketema in the topflight. He was the assistant coach of the Ethiopian national side between 2018 and 2020. He is a former midfielder of Hawassa Ketema, Saint George and Dedebit.
Hawassa Ketema started off the new campaign on the wrong foot as they lost eight league games. The South Ethiopian side are dangling in the relegation zone with 15 points.
Miheret succeeds interim coach Wondemagen Teshome. Miheret is tasked to save the club from relegation.
