The 2025-26 CBE Ethiopian Premier League continued with midweek games played in Addis Ababa and Hawassa. Ethio-Electric, Fasil Kenema, Hawassa Ketema, and Saint George registered big wins, while a top-tier clash between Bahirdar Ketema and Ethiopian Coffee ended in a barren draw.
With an expanded 20-team league, the top flight is being played in two groups. In Group A, Ethio-Electric continued their fine form after coming from behind to beat Arbaminch Ketema 3-1. Yigezu Bogale gave the Crocodiles an early lead, but the two-time Ethiopian Premier League champions scored three goals in the second half through Befekadu Asersaghen, Hassen Hussien, and Abel Habtamu to record their second win of the season.
Ethiopian Coffee were held to a barren draw by Bahirdar Ketema. The Browns were the better side, but the heroic goalkeeping of Senegalese import Pape Seydou helped the Waves of Tana share the spoils. Mohammed Abera inspired Mechal to overcome Commercial Bank of Ethiopia 3-1, with the new signing Abera striking twice.
Saint George scored in the second half to pip newcomers Arsi Negele 1-0. Abel Yalew bagged the solitary goal of the match with 12 minutes remaining as the Horsemen maintained their perfect start. Elsewhere, Hawassa Ketema bounced back from a derby defeat at the hands of Sidama Coffee to sweep aside Wolayta Dicha 2-1. Yared Biruk scored a brace for the Lakers as the Bees of Tona’s poor start to the new campaign continued. Bereket Gizaw was the difference as Fasil Kenema defeated Sidama Coffee 1-0.
The remaining round three fixtures will be held in Addis Ababa and Hawassa, with Diredawa Ketema hosting Mekele 70 Enderta, while Adama Ketema take on Hadiya Hosaina.
