Ethiopian midfielder Canaan Markneh has joined Shabab Al Ghar in the Libyan Premier League. Markneh joined his new side after leaving previous club Al Madina a few days ago.

Markneh left Mechal to play outside of his native country for the first time. He bagged three goals during his six month stay at the Tripoli club. Al Madina made a few notable foreign player signings during the recent transfer window, forcing the former Saint George man to seek options else where.

Shabab Al Ghar are third in Group 3 of the Premier League with 17 points. They are vying for a place in the championship group.

Markneh, an Ethiopian international, started his career at the Addis Ababa University. He played for Addis Ababa Ketema, Adama Ketema, Saint George and Mechal. He won one league title with Saint George before joining army side Mechal in a surprising move ahead of the 2022-23 season.
