Ethiopian Premier League eyes new broadcast deal after SuperSport exit

Ethiopian Premier League Share Company (EPLSC) General Manager Kifle Seife is optimistic that the top flight will have a new television rights holder before the start of the new season.

EPLSC has ended its five-year TV rights deal with South African broadcaster SuperSport TV following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

SuperSport opted not to renew the multimillion-dollar deal, exiting the league after showcasing matches for the past five years.

Nonetheless, Seife remains confident that the league will secure a new television rights partner. The general manager told Addis Media Network that work has already begun on that front.

“We are speaking with many firms so that the league can be broadcast live. The live broadcast will continue for sure. I can’t say much about which firm will take the TV rights,” said Seife.

Local broadcasters have shown interest in airing the league. EPLSC might still pursue an international broadcaster in order to secure a more lucrative deal.
