Ethiopian Insurance cemented their lead at the top of the Ethiopian Premier League on Wednesday with a comprehensive win over Adama Ketema in Round 25.
Insurance were seeking to return to winning ways after Ethiopian Coffee had closed the gap to six points. Gebremedhin Haile's charges defeated Adama Ketema 3-1.
Early goals unsettled Adama Ketema. Mohamed Abera headed home to give the Water Blues the lead. Former Saint George midfielder Haider Sherefa extended the lead with a brilliant free kick. Adama pulled one back through Sintayehu Mengistu.
However, Yared Kassaye headed in from a corner as Insurance fought to take home the three points.
Ethiopian Insurance top the league with 48 points, nine points clear of second-placed Ethiopian Coffee, as they chase their first league title. Adama Ketema are in the relegation zone with 21 points.
The game between Diredawa Ketema and Ethio Electric was postponed to a later date due to a waterlogged pitch at Hawassa University Stadium.
