Ethiopian Premier League: Insurance strengthen dominance as Fasil defeat Diredawa

Ethiopian Insurance extended their unbeaten streak to eleven games as the Ethiopian Premier League leaders beat Hadiya Hosaina 1-0 on Friday. Fasil Kenema also defeated Diredawa Ketema in Friday’s later match 2-1 to conclude Week 17 in Ethiopia’s top flight.

A brilliant second half strike from Dawit Tefera handed Ethiopian Insurance a well deserved win over Hadiya Hosaina. The former Saint George midfielder unleashed an unstoppable shot from outside of the box to score the solitary goal of the game.

Gebremedhin Haile’s team extend their lead to four points in the log after increasing their total to 32 points, four ahead of second placed Saint George. Hadiya Hosaina are fourth with 26 points.

Fasil Kenema recored a crucial win over Diredawa Ketema. Habtamu Tekeste and Anwar Murad gave the Emperors a 2-0 lead before Muhdin Musa halved the deficit through a header. Tekeste scored his first goal of the season after his return to football. The former Mekele 70 Enderta was out of action due to a knee injury for two seasons.

Fasil are ninth with 20 points while Diredawa are 11th with 19 points.
