The 2024/25 season's first Sheger derby ended in a barren draw in Sunday's clash from the Ethiopian Premier League. Saint George and Ethiopian Coffee played out a goalless draw from their Week 18 clash at the Adama Science and Technology Stadium.
Penalty claims, shoulder injuries and a lively second half was the highlight of the encounter as both sides settled for a draw.

The Horsemen from the onset started off the game on a good note. Their first attempt on goal came from a Fitsum Tilahun's cross where Coffee custodian Danlad Ibrahim scrambled to keep the ball out at his near post.
The Browns were the better side after 20 minutes but they only tested Saint George goalie Bahiru Negash once.

Second half substitutes changed the game for Coffee as they dominated the second half. Mikiyas Tsegaye came closest to scoring but his effort rattled the post. Saint George tried to snatch a late winner through the failed attempts of Abdou Samiou and Tegenu Teshome.
Netsanet Kebre's side are now unbeaten in their last five Sheger Derby league matches. It is the longest ever run that Saint George failed to beat archrivals Coffee in their last five attempts.
Saint George are second with 29 points on the log. Coffee sit sixth with 23 points. In Sunday's later match, Sidama Coffee moved into the top ten with a 1-0 victory over relegation candidates Sihul Shire. Ethiopia national team forward Mesfin Tafesse scored the lone goal early in the second half.
