In round four from the CBE Ethiopian Premier League, Ethio-Electric, Fasil Kenema, Mechal, and Hawassa Ketema all registered important wins. Newly promoted side Sheger Ketema earned their first-ever top-flight three points, while the winless run of Adama Ketema also came to an end.

Two-time Ethiopian Premier League champions Ethio-Electric pipped Ethiopian Coffee 1-0 in Addis Ababa. Midfielder Habtamu Shewalem scored the solitary goal in the second half from a free-kick effort, as the Browns’ fans launched a huge protest against their head coach, Abiy Kassahun.

Record Ethiopian champions Saint George were stunned 1-0 by the promoted side Sheger Ketema. Yared Mekonnen struck the lone goal after the restart, with Sheger dominating the first half. It was the club’s first-ever win in the league, and it came against the Addis Ababa giants.

Hawassa Ketema’s good start to the new campaign continued with a 3-1 win over Mekele 70 Enderta. Veteran forward Getaneh Kebede bagged a brace, with youngster Yared Biruk adding one for the Lakers. The northern Ethiopian side got their goal from new signing Sulieman Hamid as their league struggles continue.

Mechal beat Dire Dawa Ketema 2-0. Mulugeta Miherete’s charges scored in the first half to take home maximum points. Mohammed Abera and Biruk Markos were on the scoresheet for the army side.

Fasil Kenema, under the guidance of former Ethiopian national team coach Yohannes Sahle, maintained their unbeaten run. The Emperors defeated Midre Genet Shire, formerly Sihul Shire, 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Kalkidan Zelalem.

Mechal top the standings with 10 points, level with Ethio-Electric and Fasil Kenema. Hawassa Ketema are fourth with nine points.
