The Ethiopian Premier League has suspended Hawassa Ketema and Fasil Kenema players for the next four rounds. Hawassa Ketema striker Isreal Eshetu and Fasil Kenema defensive midfielder Habtamu Tekeste were shown straight red cards in the round 31 game in Adama after a pitch brawl.
The fight between the two players caused the game to be halted for a few minutes, as the match ended in a draw. The league has handed them a four-game ban and further penalized them 3,000 Birr ($22 USD) each.
The Emperors and the Lakers will have to play without these two players. Eshetu returned to Hawassa this season and has scored four goals.

Tekeste returned to football after a two-and-a-half-season injury. His return was marked by a selection to the Ethiopian national side for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers in March 2025.
Fasil Kenema and Hawassa Ketema are yet to secure their safety from relegation this season.
